Survey European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN)

The EUCPN was set up in May 2001 by an EU Council Decision to promote crime prevention activity in Member States across the EU, and to provide a means through which valuable good practices in preventing crime could be shared. The Network consists of a National Representative from each EU Member State, a Substitute Representative, and other crime prevention experts including practitioners and academics. The presidency of the Network rotates every 6 months, with Denmark as current president (January-June 2012).

This year the EPA celebrates its 15th birthday.

Created in 1995 with the initiative of Pierre Denonne, the EPA finds already its origin in 1990 and 1992 in Cognac, where André Mondory, Membre of Honor of the EPA, had founded the " Association Européenne des Polices Municipales" (AEPM).

Initially, the EPA was an association in fact, officialized then by the publication of its statutes as a non-profit-making association (asbl) with the Belgian Monitor of December 17, 1998.
