The T.M.C. Asser Instituut will organise a new tailor-made training course on Police and Judicial Cooperation between the EU Member States, in close collaboration with EUROPOL and EUROJUST this May:

EUROPOL & EUROJUST: Their Role in EU Police and Judicial Cooperation

The general aim of this course is to share knowledge and experience and to develop networks and strengthen cooperation between participants working in the field of Freedom, Security and Justice. The contributions of Europol and Eurojust to this programme will provide participants with a clear insight into the functioning of these two EU bodies and the way they cooperate and interact among each other as well as with authorities of the Member States and with other law enforcement bodies. Participants are also given the opportunity to network towards establishing and strengthening their professional contacts with officials of both organisations.

The lecture programme will consist of morning sessions at the T.M.C. Asser Instituut and afternoon sessions at both Europol and Eurojust respectively.

The course is unique in that not only is it co-developed with Europol and Eurojust, but participants will also get the opportunity to receive lectures at three locations from key experts in this field.

Topics include the changes in the Lisbon Treaty, cooperation between Europol/Eurojust, other forms of international cooperation, the European Arrest Warrant, Cross Channel cooperation, Joint Investigation Teams, and the shadow side of international cooperation, such as data protection and privacy issues.

The training will take place in The Hague, The Netherlands on 14 & 15 May, 2009. The course fee is € 985.- and includes materials and lunch on both days, one dinner and receptions and transport between venues. The fee does not cover (international) travel costs, (hotel) accommodation, insurance or other expenses.
